The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors has awarded two contracts totalling US$688m for the design and construction of parts of Sacramento International Airport's US$1.3bn terminal project.
The joint venture of Austin Commercial and Walsh landed a US$401.5m contract to build the landside terminal, a three-story building that would include ticket counters and the baggage claim area.
Turner Construction Co was awarded a US$286m contract to build the airside concourse, including the 19 gates and international arrival services, the Sacramento Business Journal reports.
Construction is scheduled to start next month with completion slated for August 2012.
The terminal modernisation project will replace the airport's 40-year-old Terminal B to meet the rising demand for passenger services and improve the airport's ability to attract new carriers and routes.
