TSA Plans New Laptop Screening Rules

27 May 2008

The US Transportation Security Authority (TSA) is preparing new rules that will allow travellers to pass through security without removing laptops from cases.

Current regulations require all laptops to be removed from carry cases to be x-rayed at security checkpoints.

The new regulations could come into effect later this year, the TSA says.

Case manufacturers Targus and Skooba Design have begun designing checkpoint-friendly cases in anticipation of the law change.
