Bangalore International Airport will open for operation on Friday, officials say.
The airport will be formally inaugurated in the presence of the State and Central Government sometime in June.
However, a group of concerned citizens and businesses say there is not enough infrastructure for the new airport to be able to deal with its passengers, the BBC reports.
They insist the old airport, in the centre of the city, should remain open, but airport operator Bengaluru International Airport Limited is insistent the old airport will close for financial reasons.
