TF Green Airport in Rhode Island has become the first airport to implement PURVIS Systems' emergency notification system (ENS) software.
ENS is a secure web-based system that enables officers, first responders and emergency personnel to send and receive mass notification of an emergency within minutes.
Recipients will receive the message as e-mail, text message or by other techniques, and will have the option of responding immediately.
Rhode Island Airport Police Chief David Hayden says the software will help the force respond to threats quickly while informing other airports of the situation.
"Since our work at TF Green presents a myriad of security issues, we required a communications system that would allow us to extend our reach beyond the members of our own unit, while enabling us to inform key officials in other airports nationwide," he says.
