Balfour Beatty Buys Blackpool Airport06 May 2008 14:14 Engineering firm Balfour Beatty has bought Blackpool International Airport in a £14m deal. Regional and City Airports, the airport investment and development arm of Balfour Beatty, purchased the airport from Mar Properties. Blackpool Council leader Peter Callow says the purchase will lead to the expansion of the airport, which is expected to handle 500,000 passengers on 12 routes throughout the British Isles and Europe this year. "I know that Balfour Beatty has very exciting plans for the future which will see expansion of both flights and facilities," he says. The deal is subject to approval from Blackpool Council.
