02 May 2008 14:32

Japan has agreed to give Mongolia US$270m in credit in order to build a new international airport.

According to local media, the planned airport will be able to handle 1.7 million passengers annually, with capacity for 18,100 landing and departing airplanes.

The new airport will quadruple the capacity of Mongolia's Chinggis Khaan International Airport.

The facility is scheduled to open in 2015.
