A380 Makes First Landing at Heathrow18 March 2008 15:03 Heathrow Airport has become the third destination served by the Airbus A380 Superjumbo after it made its first commercial landing at the airport this afternoon. Singapore Airlines is currently the only airline to operate the aircraft, which experienced its maiden flight in October last year. Other cities served are Sydney and Singapore. Heathrow will become the biggest A380 hub, with 90 of the planes operating out of the airport by 2020, Airbus says. Airport operator BAA has spent £450m in modifications to accommodate the double-decker aircraft, adding a new pier at Terminal 3 and introducing A380–sized stands at recently opened Terminal 5.
