10 September 2008

CryptoMetrics has announced that it have entered into a 25-year exclusive partnership with the Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and BioDentity Systems to develop and deploy facial recognition systems for all airports and other points of entry into the UAE

The deal also includes providing the technology to all points of entry for countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The systems to be developed and deployed use industry leading facial recognition technology created by CryptoMetrics to confirm a person's true identity as well as identify persons who pose a threat to the state.

CryptoMetrics CEO, Robert Barra, said "this announcement demonstrates the confidence that the government of the UAE has in our technology and the government's long term commitment to the safety and security of their citizens and of visitors to the UAE."

A spokesman from the Ministry of Interior, Major Fawaz Badran al Qaraeen said that CryptoMetrics pioneering technology had allowed it to "win convincingly in competitive trials conducted by the Ministry of Interior to confirm the most advanced supplier of face recognition technology."

The Ministry of Interior and CryptoMetrics launched the initial technology deployment of their partnership at the Abu Dhabi Airport on 14 July where they unveiled the world's first known installation of a nation-wide proactive wanted person detection system based on facial recognition.
