Air Traffic Controllers Delay Planes in Protest

08 October 2007

Air traffic controllers at Isreal's Ben Gurion airport are purposefully delaying flights to protest a growing number of near misses at the airport.

According to local media reports, flights are being delayed by up to 30 mins in protest of the near accidents and to reduce further risks by increasing the gap between flights.

Last week a collision between Italian and Israeli aircraft was narrowly avoided after the Italian plane was on the runway without permission when the Israeli plane came into land.
