British consultant TPS has started the redevelopment of Muscat International Airport, Oman, which will soon operate a 100m high air traffic control tower.
Located to the south of the new passenger terminal west pier, the tower will be linked to the terminal building by a glazed bridge link.
As a principal consultant for the project, TPS is providing architectural design for 11 new buildings, including an air transport management complex and a contingency and training centre, in addition to fire and sea rescue facilities.
All buildings in this project are slated to be completed by the end of October 2012.
The project is part of a wider redevelopment slated to be completed in 2014, following which the airport will be able to handle 12 million travellers a year.
