Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT)
Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) is a general term describing airport equipment that broadcasts unique signals on designated frequencies. ELTs either sense a crash and operate automatically or are manually activated. Often refered to as the 'black box'.
