Nautel Non-Directional Beacon Receives SRG Approval

Systems Interface Limited, a leading worldwide supplier of Ground Based Navigational Aids announces the first Nautel NDB system to become operational in the UK.

Scatsta Airport in the Shetland Islands have installed and commissioned the Nautel ND500 Non-Directional Beacon (NDB). The Safety Case for the project has been approved by Civil Aviation Authority Safety Regulation Group (SRG) and the equipment became operational on 18th July, 2006.

Systems Interface Managing Director, Mr. Michael Furness, stated: "This is an important milestone for the Nautel NDB equipment and will be the first of many Nautel NDB installations in the UK".

Located some 24 miles (39 km) NNW of Lerwick Scatsta Airport is for civilian use in support of the oil industry.

Systems Interface entered into an agreement with Nautel Inc based in Canada as an exclusive agent in 2003 for the supply of NDB systems. Since then Systems Interface have supplied more than 30 Nautel NDB systems.
