Sakaeronavigatsia of Georgia has once again chosen Systems Interface as its preferred supplier for the supply installation and commissioning of two Marker Beacon Systems at Tbilisi International Airport and an NDB system at Mestia Airport. Work will begin in January 2011 at both sites.
Tbilisi International Airport will receive two Normarc 7050D ILS Marker Beacon Systems together with Yagi ILS marker antennas and shelters to complement the two systems previously supplied by Systems Interface Mestia Airport, situated in north-west Georgia at an elevation of 1,500m in the Caucasus mountains and some 226km north-west of Tbilisi Airport will gain a Nautel Vector VR500 NDB system complete with antenna tuning unit, surge protection, remote control and monitoring, battery back-up, self-supporting antenna and shelter. Installation of this equipment is just the beginning of Mestia's development into a busy regional and tourist airport and will facilitate scheduled daily flights as well as the current small propeller aircraft and helicopters which travel there weekly.
