SolaCom Technologies, a communications solution company that enables interoperability over any network infrastructure, announces that it has been selected to install its market-leading Liberty-STAR voice communication control system (VCCS) at the Quellón Airport on the island of Chiloe, Chile.
Amezage Integracion e Ingenieria Limitada will provide system integration services for Direccion General de Aeronáutica Civil de Chile (DGAC Chile) and selected SolaCom's Liberty-STAR VCCS with six radio interfaces and 24 telephone interfaces. The new system includes one touch screen and two push button operator positions—a capability very few suppliers can deliver.
"SolaCom is focused on providing systems tailored to specific customer requirements," says Pierre Plangger, Vice President ATC Sales and Marketing. "Our ability to provide a mix of touch screen and push button operator positions for Quellon demonstrates how our flexible, scalable solutions can be tailored to meet our customer’s operational needs."
The Liberty-STAR VCCS system will include:
The city of Quellon is located on the island of Chiloe 812 miles (1,300km) south of Santiago, at the end of the Panamerican highway. Quellon has become a very important city over the years experiencing considerable growth. The city has become a major hub for both the industrial and fishing industries and has seen a great deal of commercial development over that time.
The Quellon Airport is undergoing a major renovation project geared at improving its airport operations. The project includes construction of a new air traffic control tower, installation of new runway lighting and Air Traffic Control (ATC) equipment including VHF radios and VCCS.
Chile is the latest South American country to select SolaCom's Liberty-STAR VCCS system following successful installations in Venezuela, Colombia and Argentina.
