C4I releases Significant Enhancements to Radio Interface Unit.

C4i, a world leader in mission critical intelligent Command and Control, Communication solutions for Defense, Public safety and Homeland Security markets is pleased to announce significant enhancements to the full featured Radio Interface Unit (RIU).
The Radio Interface Unit a small, ruggedized device which enables connection of up to 4 radios to an IP network, was initially released in November 2007. Serial data, audio, COR and PTT for each interface are transported using VOIP technology, making the RIU an ideal appliance for applications requiring a number of radios (or other audio devices) to be linked across a LAN or Wide Area Network. The latest software release provides a number of new features including:
- Optional mixing of multicast audio streams at the RIU to conference multiple end-points
- Variable delay of audio after the PTT signal
- Enhanced DSCP support for Quality of Service across the network
All RIU features are configurable through a user friendly web browser. C4i is continually adding new features and capabilities to the RIU based upon customer feedback and identified market requirements. Previously delivered units can be easily upgraded and all new product will ship the new features.
Also available from this month is a new member of the RIU product family, the RIU_ETX. Utilizing the same form factor as the standard RIU, the new model also incorporates a Media Server and provides a complete Voice Communications/Radio Dispatch solution in a single tactical package.

In addition, a 12 channel, rackmount unit can also be provided for users with larger numbers of radios. The RIU is available for sale to end users and re-sellers as a stand alone network appliance, or as part of a complete voice communications solution. C4i also provides system design and consulting services, systems integration, installation and follow-on support. Radio remote control and voice access software, switching hardware, racking and interface cables can also be provided.
