ICC Play Major Role in New IATCC Centre in Prague

23 February 2007

Ifield Computer Consultancy (ICC) is pleased to announce its significant involvement in the successful opening of the Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic (ANS CR) state-of-the-art Integrated Air Traffic Control Centre (IATCC) in Jenec, Czech Republic on the night of the 17th to 18th February 2007.

ICC's involvement has included upgrading and migrating the mission-critical ATC and back-office MIS systems to the new centre. This major project has involved all aspects of IT infrastructure, servers, workstations, specialist monitors, critical data backup and extension of working positions, as well as operating system and application upgrading, testing and deployment.

ICC has played an integral part in delivering a vast range of hardware and software skills and services to ensure the success of this project. ICC has installed over 120 specialist ATC controller workstations and eight high-availability, mission-critical servers to ensure non-stop operations. We have also implemented the latest digital video graphical interface and display technology for operation with ICC's ATRAK ATC applications.

These applications included ATRAK EC/PC (planning control), ATRAK Information Management System (IMS), ATRAK-Bypass (radar fallback system), ATRAK-Xrecorder (ATC data recording system), ATRAK-Lite (combined executive, planning and information management system) and ATRAK-SIMU (ATC simulation system).

In line with specific requirements for the new centre, all servers and workstations have been extended, utilising ICC's Desktender technology via fibre connectivity, and housed in secure, server rooms. This ensures minimal space, noise and heat in the control rooms, and maximum security and ease of maintenance for all ATRAK systems.

One of the largest projects of its kind in the Czech Republic, the IATCC, awarded the Czech Republic 'Building 2005' prize, represents the largest investment ever made by ANS CR.

"ICC's role in such a major project underlines our expertise, commitment and co-operation with ANS CR", stated George Parobek, managing director at ICC. "The success of this project is the culmination of over 17 years of ICC's strong co-operation with ANS CR's dedicated team of ATC experts and project managers. This combination of collaboration and innovation in implementing new technologies has ensured a smooth transition during live operations at the IATCC".

"The success of this project to the development of ANS CR is critical and ICC are proud to have played such a significant role in its success. The expansion and modernisation of air traffic control systems in the IATCC will ensure that ANS CR can deliver the best possible air navigation services, now and in the future."
