From its inception in 1973, General Digital has delivered scores of standard and custom flat-panel products, optical enhancements and software solutions. Additionally, they have worked diligently to deliver scores of standard and custom flat-panel products, optical enhancements and software solutions to the air traffic management industry. Air traffic control monitorsSpecifically designed for the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS), GenStar™ and GenStar II™ sunlight readable LCD monitors are the primary tower displays for both commercial and military airfields. RGB Industrial™ LCD monitors are also used on STARS as a supplemental display. GenStar and Genstar II sunlight readable LCD monitors are also used on airport surface detection equipment (ASDE-X) as tower displays. General Digital's high bright and standard luminance RGB Industrial LCD monitors, with and without touch screens, are designed to provide air traffic control specialists with static and dynamic data regarding weather and other safety critical operational data. This information benefits air traffic control towers, radar approach control facilities, en route centers, automated flight service stations, weather stations, maintenance facilities, training facilities, airline and airport operations, and military airfields. The company's rack-mounted SlimLine 1U LCD monitor / keyboard is used to provide system support and terminal weather data, while the sunlight readable and standard brightness Chassis Monitor Industrial™ is used as a video information display for naval air traffic control. Sunlight readable flat-panel LCD monitorsToday, LCD panels typically produce a maximum brightness of 200 nits - 350 nits, which is insufficient brightness in environments where they are exposed to high ambient lighting or direct sunlight. It is General Digital's experience that a luminance of greater than 100fL (343nits) is required for daylight applications, and a luminance of greater than 200fL (686nits) is required for sunlight readable applications. General Digital's rugged aluminum enclosures are designed to withstand the rigors of commercial, industrial, and military (COTS) environments alike. Our enclosures are completely irridited to provide protection from corrosion and improve shielding properties where parts make contact with one another. All external surfaces are finished with a durable black powder coat paint. The Chassis Monitor Industrial LCD monitor, in both sunlight readable and standard luminance variants, is designed to be used either as a portable display, or be mounted using the supplied mounting holes located on the rear (VESA) or sides of the enclosure. These models facilitate the integration of standard or custom pedestals, yokes, cradles, or articulating arms. General Digital gladly offers its engineering services to customers who require special customization to meet their commercial, industrial or military requirements. LCD monitor, keyboard and pointing deviceThe SlimLine 1U series cleverly combines an LCD monitor, keyboard and pointing device in one unit and is the perfect complement to General Digital's other innovative, rack-mount products. Optimized for its ultra-low profile (1.75in high), the SlimLine 1U is designed to save valuable rack space and expense by providing a reliable and user-friendly operator interface. It is also designed to meet industrial and MIL-STD-810E and TEMPEST Level 2 requirements. Numerous keyboard options are available with which to configure your unit. Choose from commercial, industrial and military grades. Many are NEMA4 / NEMA12 sealed and meet MIL-STD-810F, MIL-STD-901D and MIL-STD-167B shock and vibration requirements. The pointing device for most keyboards is a 1.375in, durable, sealed trackball. Available keyboard-trackball interfaces are PS/2, PC and Sun USB, and Sun Type 5 (eight-pin mini DIN). The SlimLine 1U's compact design and industrial durability, combined with General Digital's legendary configuration control and long product lifecycles, make it the ideal rack-mount solution for network administration, telecommunications, mobile applications, and more.
