Aeronautical consulting for the air navigation industry

ENAV's competencies as air navigation service provider offer the highest level of aeronautical experience and expertise for designing, developing, implementing and managing in a variety of fields, including:

Flight inspection unit for radio signal monitoring

The ENAV flight inspection unit is responsible for the monitoring of radio signals emitted by the ground CNS infrastructure, the validation of instrumental flight procedures and the provision of services to the R&D department. The unit is able to operate abroad for international customers.

Onboard equipment allows for the verification of signals emitted by the following systems as well as the monitoring of interfering signals:

  • ILS CAT I, II, III
  • VOR, VOR / DME, DME
  • TACAN, VORTAC
  • MLS, DME-P
  • Marker beacon
  • NDB / locator
  • VDF and TJDF
  • COM VHF and UHF
  • IOP (PAPI)
  • Airport lighting
  • Surface radars, PAR and SRE, PSR, SSR, MODO S, MLAT (WAM)
  • Various types of GNSS systems
  • ADS

The flight-check results are available after each run, both on screen and as a printout. The electronic storage of the flight-check data and a ground data analysis on a dedicated workstation are also available.

Aviation training

ENAV Academy is the contents training provider of the Italian ANS agency and is a recognised centre of excellence in aviation training for all of the players in the industry.

ENAV Academy uses its solid training platform based on experience, knowledge and technologies to design, develop and provide a wide range of training programmes in line with ICAO standards and recommended practices to meet customer needs.

ENAV Academy has two training centres (Rome and Forlì) and three schools for:

  • ANS training
  • Technological training
  • Managerial training

The following simulation systems are available:

  • Eight tower 3D simulators
  • One classroom with 14 MiniMax tower simulators
  • Two radar simulation rooms (for approach and en-route traffic management) respectively with 16 and eight working positions
  • One procedural simulation room (for approach and en-route traffic management) with eight working positions
  • One certified flight simulator (FNPT II)

In 2010 ENAV obtained certification from ENAC as a training provider. Since 2007 ENAV has been certified by the DNV as fully compliant with the quality management system requirements and, in particular, for the 'design and provision of training services in the air transport sector.'

ENAV Academy provides consultancy for the development of related training centres and services, enhancing customer's requests and needs by sharing the experience of one of the best European players in aviation training.

Maintenance for a quality service

The operational scenario in which ENAV company's Techno Sky operates is characterised by an organisation spread all over Italy with a national management system based on corrective and planned management processes. Maintenance is conceived as a set of management philosophies, operational techniques and ICT tools to support technological and productive choices.

The role of maintenance has gone from being a necessary activity to leverage for operational excellence, where the functioning of the technological infrastructure is a prerequisite for the quality and the fruition of the service. Nearly 600 technicians and highly skilled engineers work in close collaboration with the Italian ATC service provider.

Engineering for air traffic control services

Techno Sky combines its skills and expertise to develop solutions in line with technological improvements. It supports ENAV in international activities, provides support to management, helps to implement corporate programmes and develops application solutions in the ATM / CNS field.

Techno Sky offers its experience in managing and maintaining systems and technologies in air traffic control (ATC) to optimise management processes and maximise operation safety. The Techno Sky system engineering department widens its expertise to related areas, including transport, telecommunications and the environment where quality, safety and innovation are also key elements.
