delair Air Traffic Systems has 20 years’ experience of developing innovative air traffic management systems. delair‘s engineers have realised the advanced collaborative decision making product suite, which consists of focus, an electronic flight strip system, darts4D, an arrival and departure manager, sally, a resource manager and arosa, an analysis tool.

ADVANCED COLLABORATIVE DECISION MAKING (A-CDM)

With Advanced Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM), delair offers the first proven product suite in the world with the capability to plan and optimise the entire airside process at an airport. This optimisation process starts with arrivals when they are still at cruise levels, coordinates the ground activities and ends with the handover of the departure from the tower to the departure sector.

The A-CDM philosophy enables the user to start with only one application and extend it with further functionality based on other modules at any given time. It is possible to add or modify interfaces without influencing the applications, and to add new modules without the necessity to duplicate interfacing to other systems. This protects the investments of customers and reduces costs and risks.

A-CDM has been in operation at Zurich Airport since 2003 and is currently being installed at Frankfurt Airport. The suite comprises the A-CDM platform - the common data and communication base of all applications - and sophisticated decision support tools like darts4D, sally (gates, stands, check-in counters, etc.), arosa and focus.

focus - ELECTRONIC FLIGHT STRIP SYSTEM

focus is the operationally-tested module of the A-CDM product suite. focus not only replaces paper strips with electronic flight strips, but also adapts content and layout according to the requirements of each individual working position. This approved procedure guarantees that only information that is important for the respective working position is indicated.

focus covers all the essentials to assist each controller in the optimal way. This facilitates the co-ordination between the controller working positions and the ability to distribute data between the different organisations such as the airport, airlines, ATC and handling agents.

focus has been operational since 2003. In 2006, the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation has selected delair to supply the electronic flight strip system for Dubai International Airport. This focus adaptation is planned to be finished at the beginning of 2007.

darts4D - ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE MANAGER

In cooperation with the DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung, delair has developed darts4D, the world's first proven, operational arrival and departure manager. Its components are in operational use at Frankfurt and Zurich Airport, and have provided capacity improvements, delay and cost reduction, better organisation of operations, and reduction of environmental impact. darts4D presents the optimum solution to improve operations for all airport stakeholders.

The darts4D planning consists of two sub-modules, which can be applied in an inter-dependent way or as stand-alone modules. The darts4D arrival manager (AMAN) module is the first operational arrival manager of the second generation, whereas the darts4D departure manager (DMAN) module is the first operational departure manager ever. Both modules maximise the use of the limited resources (airspace and runway capacity) resulting in maximum flexibility and reduced workload for controllers.
