The Department of Civil Aviation of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar (DCA Myanmar) completed site acceptance of Comsoft Solutions’ AIM system, transforming their aeronautical information management and thus supporting their increasing air traffic.

The project consisted of a complete AIM solution to consistently manage all aeronautical information, in order to guarantee high data quality. Comsoft Solutions’ highly advanced CADAS products provide information management of AIXM 5.1 Aeronautical data, NOTAM, and flight planning, including pre-flight briefing services. The next and final step in the project will be to bring data driven Aeronautical charting into operation, which will be based on the GIS based SmartCharting tool from Frequentis.

Local company COMSOFT – CARPE DIEM are aviation consultants on the project to modernise Myanmar’s Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) infrastructure in light of increasing air traffic, essential airspace optimisation and the crucial changeover from Aeronautical Information Services (AIS). The contract and commissioning of stage two of the project took just 18 months to complete, including data migration for AIP and aeronautical charting.

Air traffic in Myanmar in Southeast Asia has been rising dramatically, with international passengers increasing by over 65% between 2012 and 2015. Plans for the country to reach 7.5 million tourists by 2020 also confirmed the need for a modernised air traffic infrastructure.

Completion of the project will turn DCA Myanmar into an AIM leader in the region, and ensure they are fully in line with the ICAO AIS to AIM Roadmap and related regulations.

Comsoft Solutions AIM product line will be on display at World ATM Congress, 7-9 March at stand number 1136. Complementary products from Frequentis can be found at stand number 526.
