At this year’s major ATC conference and exhibition, the ATC Global 2008 in Amsterdam, the German company COMSOFT and NATS, the UK’s air navigation service provider, signed a contract to further deepen and enhance their long-term cooperation in the ATC/ATM business.

In the course of the annual ATC event in The Netherlands, NATS, (formerly National Air Traffic Services) of the UK (NATS) and German ATC/ATM expert COMSOFT signed a contract to manifest and further enforce their excelling business relationship.

Both parties can look back on a long and successful track record of corporate activities which started more than 15 years ago with the implementation of the country-wide radar data network UK-RADNET, one of the most sophisticated surveillance infrastructures in the world, still serving the users to their satisfaction.

This first project was followed by a continuous series of other important projects and prestigious programmes such as ERCAMS, an integrated control and monitoring system for all UK En-Route and major airport radars, or the AMS-UK, comprising three AFTN/CIDIN/AMHS message handling systems installed at NATS operational units throughout the UK.

Now, this series of successful projects is being joined by EAMS (Extended Aeronautical Message Handling System) intended to form an integral part of NATS UK messaging operations. The implementation of this new assisted flight planning service using web-style methods and fulfilling stringent safety as well as security demands, is a vital part of NATS’s strategic development path for the Aeronautical Messaging Environment.

NATS is increasingly developing integrated approaches and COMSOFT has established itself as one of NATS key players. The Strategic Framework Agreement confirms both companies’ confidence in a long-term partnership.

Chris Odam, Director Supply Chain and Facilities Management of NATS, stated during this ceremony at the ATC Global 2008:
“COMSOFT are a key supplier to NATS who we have had a long standing working relationship with. I am pleased we are able to strengthen our relationship further by implementing a strategic framework agreement that will be beneficial to business between us.”
