SELEX Sistemi Integrati is the new brand of the Finmeccanica company of Italy, the world leader in systems and sensors for defence and air traffic management and control. It integrates the expertise gained through more than 40 years spent in the design, implementation and support of Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems.

ATM systems from SELEX include Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, radars, Communication and Navigation Satellite (CNS) systems, radar and tower simulation systems, as well as navaids and airport meteorological systems. These systems are used in more than 100 countries worldwide. Customers throughout the world have come to depend on SELEX's unique combination of leading-edge technology and through-life support.

ATM CAPABILITIES: AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL (ATC), TOWER CONTROL AND AIRPORT SURFACE MANAGEMENT

The company has significant experience as a prime contractor for large Air Traffic Control (ATC) centres and for airport infrastructures and systems. The new Air Traffic Control centre at Rome - Ciampino and the new systems for the Milan - Malpensa airport in Italy, are among the most recent examples of this.

The Air Traffic Management & Airport Systems Division of SELEX, in accordance with ICAO CNS / ATM and EUROCONTROL guidelines, is presentely committed to the development and provision of emerging technology products for the globalisation of air traffic services.

The results are state-of-the-art, modular, commercial off-the-shelf hardware and software to improve airspace capacity, efficiency and safety, and meet all emerging requirements for nationwide systems.

SELEX capabilities rely on a complete, technologically advanced and commercially competitive line of Air Traffic Management systems for applications ranging from en-route ATC to tower control and airport surface management. All the applications are designed and implemented in accordance to the ATM 2000+ strategies and operational concepts.

AIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT (ATM) RADARS AND SATCAS SYSTEMS

SELEX radar products are the fully Solid State Primary and S band Radar (ATCR 33 S), also available in the L band version (ATCR 44 S), and the Secondary Mode S radar for enhanced selective interrogation (SIR S).

SELEX provides all sizes of ATC centres with the SATCAS family of systems relying on open, flexible and expandable architectures to cover all ATM applications.

These centres use the CDS 2000 consoles with 2k x 2k TFT displays with very advanced Human Machine Interface (HMI) features.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN COMMUNICATION AND NAVIGATION SATELLITE (CNS) / ATM SYSTEMS

The company is involved in the development of new generation ATM systems relying on Communication and Navigation Satellite (CNS) based components to provide surveillance and ATM functions such as Automatic Dependent Surveillance (ADS) and CPDLC (Controller Pilot Data Link Communication).

SELEX is very active in several satellite navigation programs, having acquired skills and experience through EGNOS, RIMS - B production, GRAS, R&D projects (MEDUP, FARAWAY) and finally through GBAS CAT I advanced developments.

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL (ATC) SIMULATION

The company is a leader in simulation applied to the 'gate to gate' concept and can provide radar and tower simulators for controllers' training.

NAVAIDS AND WEATHER SYSTEMS

A complete line of ground based Navigation and Landing Aids (ILS,VOR, DME) are provided by SELEX Sistemi Integrati Inc. and SELEX Sistemi Integrati GmbH provides meteorological systems for the acquisition and management of meteo data for airports (RAINBOW) and a set of complete meteorological radars and systems (METEOR series).
