Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) have become the signature weapon of international terrorism, as they are mostly simple and cheap, and deliver a disproportionate effect (especially if used against airplanes). Detection of IEDs has therefore become one of the major security issues at international airports. Due to the large amount of passengers and cargo that needs to be controlled simultaneously, immediate classification of threats has to be achieved in order to avoid costly delays. Detection of liquid and multi-component explosivesThe detection of liquid and multi-component explosives is a particular challenge for aviation security, requiring advanced detection methods. Conventional detection with vapour tracing or imaging methods takes too much time and only allows for spot tests, which leaves significant risks. Long-range hand-held explosive-detection devicesThe HEDD1® hand-held explosive-detection device is setting new standards in hand-held explosive detection based on its unique patented magneto-electrostatic detection (MED) method. It forms a modulated magnetic field (MMF) that provides immediate detection of all types of commercial and military explosives, including liquid explosives, within a distance of up to 100m, including through all types of barriers (concrete, steel, etc.). With HEDD1 the classification of people, objects and areas can be achieved on the spot, as the device is immediately ready for use without any warm-up time. HEDD1 is maintenance-free and designed for continuous use under all climate conditions. Due to its short, medium and long-range detection capabilities, HEDD1 is a great complementary tool for all existing explosive detection with K9 or vapour tracing methods, as strategic classification and pro-active measures become possible for the first time using existing resources. Even weapons and ammunition will be detected. Fast-detection device for liquid explosives and BBIEDsThe MED of HEDD1 makes it possible to detect BBIEDs that are inserted into the body (for example the intestine) or hidden in artificial implants, and that are thus almost impossible to detect with conventional methods. This makes HEDD1 a very useful complementary device for any metal detectors or body scanners. As HEDD1 can detect explosives even on large distances of up to 100m, the device is also especially helpful for security measures in cargo or maintenance areas, as large surfaces that require mobile explosive detection are usually concerned. HEDD1 is therefore a great complementary device to standard measures such as K9 security dogs or portable vapour tracers that need to be directly aimed at suspicious objects. With HEDD1 large areas that are causing security concerns can be reduced swiftly to suspicious points that are confirmed with a spot check. Digital wideband IED jamming devicesWith a strong focus on blast-protection technologies, unival group has developed an intersecting product portfolio that not only includes explosive detection but also countermeasures in the form of stationary and mobile digital wideband IED jamming to prevent remote activation of RCIEDs. Our jamming devices are fully programmable, allowing them to be specifically set to protect against all threat scenarios with radio or remote-controlled devices. Customised aviation security devicesFrom our headquarters in Bonn, Germany, we develop and manufacture high-end construction security for the aviation industry, automotive security products, night-vision and thermal imaging devices and high-tech indoor tracking modules, allowing us to customise special security solutions for our customers worldwide.
