The past few years have seen stormy weather for airport operators and airlines alike. The global economic downturn, rising fuel prices, volcanic ash clouds and adverse weather have all played their part in challenging the industry time and time again.
Despite this, the industry is going from strength to strength, with passenger numbers up and new facilities under construction globally. The resilience shown across the board has helped to make the past year a memorable one. To honour the best and the brightest in the industry, Future Airport has asked a panel of experts to put forward their suggestions for the leading lights who have made a difference over the past twelve months.
Our experts come from a cross-section of the industry, representing those involved in airport design, construction, airline management, air traffic control and route development. These suggestions will form the basis of the Future Airport Awards, which is where you come in.
The Future Airport Awards will cover five categories; Airport of the Year, Airline of the Year, Airport Project of the Year, Airport Personality of the Year and Technology Innovation of the Year. Each category is designed to highlight those airport operators, airlines, suppliers and individuals who are continually providing fantastic service, investing in the future and utilising the latest technological innovations.
Based on the recommendations of our panel of experts, a shortlist will be drawn up for each category. Future Airport and Airport Technology readers will then have the opportunity to vote on their favourite in each category via the Future Airport website from 24 June 2011. Winners will be announced in the August 2011 issue of Future Airport magazine.
Watch out for press releases here and in the Airport Technology newsletters to keep up-to-date with the latest announcements about our panel of experts and list of nominees.
