Based on its phenomenally successful announcement products used in the acoustically hostile environment of London Underground stations, Voice Perfect has designed SCAS®-Air announcement systems specifically for airport-industry applications.

Aviation digitised-speech announcer

A digitised-speech announcer, SCAS-Air uses natural, believable human-voice pre-recordings to broadcast automatic flight departure and arrival messages through a feed from an interface to your flight information display systems (FIDS). Flight cancellation and rescheduling can also be programmed to play automatically using the same interface to your FIDS.

The capital cost is a once-off software and repertoire licence based on passenger throughput, but only annual maintenance and repertoire refreshes are charged thereafter.

SCAS-Air's functions include:

Any non-technical user can select whichever public address zones, landside or airside, are appropriate for the message to be broadcast to, schedule the number of repeats required, and set up a day's or a week's messages, which subsequently broadcast 24/7, even when unattended. Live announcements can also be made through SCAS-Air.

Aviation foreign-language voice-announcement systems

Foreign-language voice announcements are also available using an SCAS-Air system; currently our installation in Lleida, northern Spain, uses both Spanish and the Catalan dialect as well as English, whilst East Midlands Airport's system offers Polish, French, Spanish and German.

Aviation safety and security voice-announcement systems

Also available in the SCAS-Air repertoire are safety, security and 'housekeeping' (e.g. no smoking) messages. Voice Perfect's maintenance and repertoire-refresh service ensures that the correct information is ready for use well before the required deadline.

Additional features such as boarding announcements at each departure gate, which ensures that the full passenger compliment boards each flight (thereby saving costly baggage unloads), and a link to your telephone exchange to enable reminders and service updates to passengers by phone or text (which can help customers plan their journeys effectively), are available on request.

Based on airport throughput at the commissioning stage, SCAS-Air is priced on a once-off software and repertoire licence plus hardware, if required. There are no surprises or further charges except for the annual maintenance and language update service, the costs of which are available in advance. This makes cross-charging to carriers simple and transparent.

Maintenance for automatic flight-announcement systems

Voice Perfect's maintenance package — as well as pre-preparing all announcement updates — also provides initial training for as many staff as required and prompt response if rectification should be necessary, either by remote access (via VPN link), personal attendance or the use of local agents.
