SPECIAL POLES AND EQUIPMENT-MOUNTING SOLUTIONS

Europoles product portfolio includes frangible poles made of fibreglass-reinforced plastics for runway approach-lighting systems, glidepath antennas, installation stands for localizer systems, wind-measurement poles and complete floodlight systems with lowerable platforms. Customized towers for weather observation, and special models for antenna and radar stations, round off our portfolio of products.

Pfleiderer Europoles produces these systems in accordance with the regulations set forth in DIN EN ISO 9001:2000, as well as national and international standards. These products additionally satisfy the stipulations set forth in ICAO, FAA, and NATO standards.

LOWERABLE FLOODLIGHT MOUNTS

These lighting systems can be equipped with lowerable floodlight mounts. Lowerable systems are absolutely critical especially for taxiway applications. Lowerable lighting mounts mean that defective lamps can be replaced and floodlights can be cleaned, without any restriction of ongoing airport operations.

This equipment can be serviced and maintained simply, safely, and economically – since repairs and service are easily possible on the ground. This eliminates extra time and costs for using cherry pickers or mobile cranes. For hangars, Pfleiderer Europoles supplies special lowering systems for indoor use.

ILS MOUNTING POLES

The safety of passengers, freight, and airport equipment demands Intelligent Lighting Solutions (ILS) at airports – illumination that assures that planes take off and land on time, at any time of the day and night, and under all weather conditions.

Poles by Pfleiderer Europoles provide the reliable basis for optimal lighting conditions around the terminals, the runways and taxiways, cargo loading zones, maintenance areas, passenger lounges and safety zones.

TAXIWAY LIGHTING

For taxiway lighting, Pfleiderer Europoles offers mounting solutions made of steel and spun concrete. For these systems, Europoles not only coordinates the development, production, and delivery of the poles, but also arranges the necessary sub-contracting with lighting-design specialists and other third parties.

Pfleiderer Europoles is one of the few manufacturers worldwide that can manufacture air-traffic control masts and poles according to the stringent airline safety guidelines of the ICAO. The product range includes the following areas of application:

POLES FOR APPROACH LIGHTING SYSTEMS

Poles designed for approach-lighting systems assure effective lighting of the runways, a critical factor for every flight. Pfleiderer Europoles guarantees a high level of safety as the poles bend and break without creating sparks. This characteristic has been certified by the ICAO in accordance with to their Annex 14 on frangibility requirements.

If required, we can install flanged connections or tippable footplates for the poles. These long-proven tippable plates offer all the advantages of fast installation and simple maintenance of the airport lighting systems. With the help of mobile hydraulic lifting elements, the poles can be lowered for maintenance by only one person – without significantly disturbing air traffic.

GLIDEPATH ANTENNA POLES

These three-segment models made of carbon and fibreglass-reinforced plastic have been developed for mounting glidepath antennas for air-traffic control. They enable precise approaches for all aircraft. The use of fibreglass-reinforced plastic assures conformity of glidepath poles with the stipulations of the ICAO and the FAA for passive safety, and prevents any interference with signals.

LOCALISER SYSTEMS

Localising systems are located at particularly safety-sensitive areas. Together with glidepath-antenna poles, localiser systems support pilots in correctly maintaining their vertical angle of approach.

In the event of an accident, and in order to prevent danger to aircraft, Pfleiderer Europoles localising installation stands are made of GRP. The Europoles installation stands, including gangways, elevate the antenna systems to the required level of the runway. From there, the antennas can be serviced without difficulty.

WIND MEASUREMENT POLES

Wind-measurement poles provide data to air-traffic control on wind direction and strength. Pilots receive the current measured values immediately before takeoff or before landing. These poles, made of Carbon-Fibre-Reinforced Plastic (CFRP), are conical in form, which reduces formation of ice on the poles.
