Orion Solar - Aviation Solar-Powered LED Lighting

Orion Solar has been supplying solar-powered LED lighting solutions for aviation, marine, mining, roadway, park and transit applications throughout Australia and neighbouring countries for the past five years. Our customers in the aviation industry use our whole range of solar-powered airport LED lighting.

Easy-installation, low-cost aviation solar-powered LED lights

Orion's LED lights are used wherever it is difficult or costly to provide an electrical supply. With no trenching, cabling or permits required, Orion's lights are easy to install, without the need for an electrician. Lower installation costs, lower maintenance costs and no running costs are among their advantages. The lights will come on automatically at dusk and go off at dawn unless switched by a stored programme or activated by motion sensors or radio frequency.

Solar-powered LED lights for airport safety

The resulting take-up of the technology in Australia has paid off for Orion. "We started with the sale of lighting for small, remote airfields but we now supply lighting to airports large and small," says the company's sales manager, Richard Holliday. "Illumination and markers are often needed where there is no immediate availability of hard-wired power, which means there is a great opportunity for solar-powered LED lights."

Runway, airport and helipad safety LED lights

In the aviation sector our lights have been used for the following applications:

  • Runway lights
  • Taxiway lights
  • Threshold lights
  • Helipad lights
  • Obstruction lights
  • Elevated runway guard lights
  • Windsock lighting
  • Infrared LED lighting
  • Security fence lighting

Road and car park safety LED lights

Our solar-powered LED lights can also be used as traffic lights, pedestrian crossing lights, car park lights, and street and pathway lighting, and for solar-powered bollards.

Orion represents a number of manufacturers, including Carmanah Technologies, Dialight and Multipole. We also integrate various technologies and add value to our products through our in-house manufactured hardware. Environmentally friendly aviation LED lights

Apart from the cost savings achieved, the installation of Orion's solar-powered LED lights has helped our customers reduce greenhouse-gas emissions. Orion is helping our customers to go green and take a step forward in the climate change debate.

International-standard-compliant aviation LED lights

Carmanah aviation lights are widely used throughout the world with over 100,000 lights supplied, including to the US Defence Department. They are built to the toughest industrial standards including military specifications, ESD, EMI and EMC, and are compliant with ICAO Annex 14.

Long-life, low-cost solar-powered LED lamps

All LED-based lamps offer a longer life (up to 100,000hr), lower energy use, a greater tolerance to rough handling and minimal heat-generation. Over their product life they are a lower-cost alternative to all other lighting technology.

Solar-powered LED bulbs and tubes

We also have a range of LED bulbs and tubes designed as replacements for traditional incandescent and fluorescent lamps.
