Efla - AGL Series Transformers, Primary and Secondary Connectors and Cable Assemblies for Airfield Lighting Markets

Efla Oy (previously Ensto Connector Oy) manufactures high-quality AGL series transformers, primary and secondary connectors and cable assemblies for airfield lighting markets. AGL SERIES TRANSFORMERS

Efla's AGL series transformers for Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) are constructed for use in series fed circuits in airfield lighting. They are designed and manufactured according to following international standards:

• ICAO Aerodrome Design Manual: Part 5 Electrical Systems
• IEC 61823 (Draft)

The transformers are completely waterproof. The encapsulation of the transformer is made with TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), with excellent electrical and mechanical resistance to oil, kerosene, other aircraft fuel, soil acids and alkalis and other chemicals typically present on airfields.

The plug and receptacle insulation as well as cable insulation is of the same material - thermoplastic elastomer - fully moulded together, making a complete waterproof construction. The transformers have two primary leads, one with Style 2 plug and one with Style 9 receptacle and one secondary lead with Style 7 receptacle.

The transformers have two copper windings with high-grade insulation, one primary and one secondary, wound separately on a toroidal magnetic core circuit and insulated completely from each other.

Each transformer is tested before leaving the factory. They are first submerged in water for a minimum of twelve hours. After this they are tested and all test results are recorded and can be traced, if needed, to every transformer.

Our range consists of 30W, 45W, 65W, 100W, 150W, 200W and 300W transformers, either with or without earthing.

PRIMARY CONNECTORS

Efla's primary connectors for screened and unscreened cables are designed and manufactured also according to FAA specifications for use with screened or unscreened underground power cables.

The material of the contact parts is of tin-plated copper. The socket is supplied with copper beryllium sleeve-type spring assuring excellent contact pressure. The plug and receptacle insulation is made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) with excellent environmental resistance. The insulation also withstands exposure to UV-radiation and ozone.

The range of primary connectors is suitable for cable sizes with conductor size 6mm² to 10mm² and cable diameter from 8.5mm to 22mm.

SECONDARY CONNECTORS

Efla's secondary connectors are made of the same excellent material as the primary connectors and they meet the FAA specifications. The material of the contact parts is of tin plated copper.

The range consists of connectors for conductor size 1.5mm² to 6.0mm² with cable sizes from 8.5mm to 18mm.

Both primary and secondary connectors are supplied as connector kits containing all the necessary parts, silicone grease and a cleaning cloth. They can be assembled without any special tools.

CABLE ASSEMBLIES

Efla's product range consists also of prefabricated primary and secondary leads to suit the different needs of the contractor. By using the same material both for the connectors and the cable, Efla can ensure a complete watertight connection. The secondary leads are particularly to help the installation of the luminaries with a fast and secure "plug-in connection".
