Between 11 and 14 October the entire airport sector was focusing on the Inter Airport fair, the leading international exhibition for the airport industry, in Munich, Germany. This successful edition featured 606 exhibitors from 34 countries, welcoming more than 12,600
visitors. The ADB booth displayed a wide range of new products and technological innovations for distributors, agents and clients alike. The solar powered LED portfolio was awarded the airport technology of the year award by Future Airport magazine.
ADB Airfield Solutions, one of the global market leaders in airfield ground lights (AGL), drew a lot of interest with its LED innovations and associated products and systems on display. New products such as the EREL / ERES LED runway edge fittings significantly reducing energy and maintenance costs and the airfield sensor (AFS) enhancing traffic safety and efficiency at airports confirmed the
company's drive to innovation. Demonstrations of the individual light control and monitoring system (AGLAS) and advanced power supply (APS) were regularly requested.
The AD range of LED inset lights displayed in both runway and taxiway applications formed the main pole of attraction on the booth. They are the result of ADB's unequalled experience with LED inset lights and illustrated their low maintenance, low power consumption and proven reliability. Visitors also lauded their neat design and the remarkably good light output.
Visitors keen to reduce their CO2 emissions were pleased to discover ADB's solar range, a partnership with Carmanah, one of the most renowned names in solar technology. Both the solar aviation wireless LED (SAWL) and solar runway guard light system (RGL) were on display.
Future Airport magazine announced on this fair's occasion that ADB's solar powered LED portfolio had won their airport technology of the year award. According to the jury this solution is 'environmentally positive' by combining 'both cost-effectiveness from improved lighting with a significant saving in the carbon footprint.'
Another revelation for many visitors was the world standard FMT docking guidance system displayed on the stand, thanks to a recent cooperation agreement with FMT, a technological leader in docking guidance.
"ADB's stand was an excellent display of the company's recent products and airfield lighting solutions. Cutting edge technology, such as LED lighting which featured in ADB's latest range of products, will be the game changer in new-age airfield lights," says Dev Kandiah Indran, director at Ruby Electrical Trading and ADB representative for Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar, Brunei and Cambodia.
Ian Smith, technical leader airfield systems at Heathrow Airport, also witnessed some interesting demonstrations and talks. "The well-thought design, professional set-up and plenty of stand space enabled good access to all products on display. Along with the informative conversations with the ADB staff this showcase was very inspiring for future BAA airfield projects."
Christian Onselaere, president and CEO ADB: "Our new products, already in use at several locations, are the result of ADB's long-standing experience with LED technology and an installed base of more than 350,000 LED lights worldwide. We will continue to serve our customers with high-quality products, systems and solutions, supported by the highest levels of customer service."
