Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH, with headquarters in Kiel / Germany, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rheinmetall DeTec AG. Rheinmetall Landsysteme specializes in the development and production of tracked and wheeled vehicles, including powerful air start units, as well as gas turbine packaging.

Optimum availability, operability and a long life of all products are secured due to their high quality and the customer-oriented logistics support provided by the company, such as training of operation and maintenance personnel, spare parts supply, maintenance and repair, documentation, as well as after-sales-service.

The company is qualified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 and AQAP-110/150.

AIR START UNITS MSU 200/400

Rheinmetall Landsysteme supplies the most powerful gas turbine driven air start units worldwide. The MSU 200 and MSU 400 models can start all modern aircraft engines such as:

  • GE90
  • PW 4000
  • Rolls-Royce Trent

The heart of the unit is a gas turbine power head manufactured by Hamilton Sundstrand Power Systems. This power head is a derivate of the one used in the APS 2000/2100, the APU in service since 1991 with the Boeing 737, which has also been selected as the APU for the Boeing 717.

Rheinmetall Landsysteme has developed all other major components such as the gearbox, FADEC and the fuel control. These meet all customer requirements for professional ramp operation.

BACK-UP AIRCRAFT ENGINE STARTERS AND AIR-CONDITIONING POWER SOURCE

Compared with other air start units, the MSU 200/400 is more powerful (204ppm at 56psia / 408ppm at 56psia), has a robust design, is environmentally friendly and is easy to operate, service and maintain.

All field units have proven their function and reliability as back-up starters for main aircraft engines, and as power sources for the onboard air packs. Unlimited full power operation of an aircraft's air conditioning system (ACS) is possible.

AIRPORT SNOW BLOWER SYSTEM

These air start units can also be used as snow blow-away systems in combination with a Verstergaard de-icing system. Under various conditions and during various missions, Rheinmetall Landsysteme's air start units have proven their versatility at airports worldwide.

More than 350 units have been sold to 20 countries on four continents.
