400Hz ground power cable systems

We have developed a new cable design with a total new technological solution that allows all the GPUs' manufacturers and all airports’ facilities to rely only on a single type of cable for each application, including:

• Fixed installations
• Underground pits
• Mobile 400Hz diesel GPUs
• Suspended passenger bridges
• Motorised or manual cable retrievers
• Scissor systems

This cable solution can operate under extreme environmental conditions and high mechanical stress. Its configuration can be adapted according to the specific type of application.

INTER-AEROFLEX® ground power cable systems

We have designed a cable with a conductor for each single phase, instead of the usual six, splitting the neutral core in three. The control cores will be arranged according to the customer's requirement, but the real engineering solution has been to assemble a group of single insulated conductors to each phase. Advantages of this cable design include:

• Low-resistance value
• Improved heat dissipation due to a decreased skin effect
• Increased current carrying capacity for each phase: from 300A to 350A (according to operating temperatures)
• Equal phase length, uniform and balanced voltage

Durable airport cables

Further advantages of our airport cables include the fact that there is no disturbing central element, they include a stable geometrical construction and an equal pulling force. As they demonstrate a high-flexibility and reduced weight, no other forces are applied to the aircraft’s connector pins.

Underground cables

The design also offers a quick, straightforward plug pin connection. The reduced weight of the cables allows for more efficient handling and a longer cable life. The cables are suitable for underground pit use, which enables easier pull-in and pull-out.

The Intercond INTER-AEROFLEX cable is suitable for a broad range of airport applications, including underground pits, mobile generator units, suspended cables for passengers’ bridges, and motorized or hand-movable cable retrievers, crocodiles and fixed applications.
