Savoy Computing Services - Swept Path Analysis, Vehicle Turn Simulation, Vehicle Movement Prediction and Vehicle Clearance Software

Savoy Computing has led the development of swept path analysis, vehicle turn simulation, vehicle movement prediction and vehicle clearance software since the late 1970s. AutoTrack for airport design is the culmination of a constant stream of innovative solutions that have provided engineers and planners with the most powerful vehicle turn simulation system available.

Uniquely available, not only on Autodesk’s AutoCAD and Bentley’s Microstation, but also as a stand-alone system, it also includes parking layout tools and vertical clearance checking.

AutoTrack for airport design is an extended version AutoTrack that provides swept path analysis of not only aircraft but all types of steered vehicles, including aircraft tugs, fuel tankers, articulated and drawbar trucks, and rear and combination steered vehicles.

Aircraft movement simulation

The AutoTrack vehicle turn simulation system features six ways to generate aircraft movements. Aircraft taxiing can be modelled using the follow drive mode, which includes nosewheel, driver's eye and cockpit tracking. All types of aircraft manoeuvres can be modelled including push back by a linked tug.

AutoDrive is a point and click driving system that we invented in 1999. It’s so good that it was immediately copied by others. AutoDrive arc models smooth arc turns whilst AutoDrive bearing models corner turns, both with interactive control over turn radii, angle and model settings. It even models both side and exit overturns.

Aircraft movement prediction

Advantages of our aircraft movement prediction software include:

  • Two aircraft editors: built-in aircraft creation and editing facilities allow similar aircraft to be copied and then edited but also prevents the user from editing base aircraft vehicles
  • Scale aircraft diagram: An enhanced true scale, dimensioned aircraft diagram is presented for all aircraft including user-defined aircraft; the diagram can be inserted in the drawing
  • Support for complex aircraft: AutoTrack is able to model all forms of aircraft undercarriage including those that incorporate self steered or linked elements such as the Boeing 747; all vehicle outlines can be imported in a single operation, e.g. all jet exhaust contours

Airport and ground support vehicle movement prediction

We also provide vehicle movement prediction software for airport support vehicles and ground support vehicles.

Swept path analysis / generator

Savoy provide a swept path generator for swept path analysis. Use the renowned AutoTrack algorithms to generate accurate swept paths. It generates swept paths very quickly, allowing 'what-if' type swept path analysis.

Airport planning and design simulation

The AutoTrack vehicle turn simulation system for airport planning and design is supplied with pre-defined models of over 100 of the world's most used commercial, private and light aircraft as well as airside support vehicles and over 600 other landside vehicles.

The Airbus A380 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner are included. However, if you need a vehicle that is not available, there are two vehicle editors to help you create it.

Powerful and flexible report options

The power and flexibility of AutoTrack’s reporting is second to none. The report wizard keeps report creation and editing fast and easy, yet allows unlimited named reports to be defined. Display named reports individually or combine them as the situation requires.

There are special sub-reports for jet exhaust temperature and velocity contours and servicing points and there's a fully customisable graphical plot for more detailed analysis.

Real-time 2D and 3D animation

When a static image doesn’t have the required impact, there’s 2D animation. When that's not enough, you can switch to 3D. The real-time animation can have pauses added to represent events such as loading or unloading, start delays, acceleration and deceleration.

In 3D mode you can set up and switch between multiple named cameras including the drivers-eye-view of any path. The resulting real-time animation, be it 2D or 3D, can be saved to a format that can be viewed on a standard PC without special software.

Integrated parking layout tools

The AutoTrack vehicle turn simulation system is unique in having integrated parking layout tools that let you design parking areas quickly and easily. It has built-in standards with editing facility which allows complete definition of:

  • Bay styles including bay angles
  • Markings, symbols, text and colours
  • Special features such as privacy posts, wheel stops, meters etc.

Use the parking layout tools to place rows fast by snapping to existing objects, place parallel rows with automatic end detailing. Adding or removing islands, footpaths and bay numbering, cutting access routes, and joining rows is also possible with the parking layout tools.

Vertical vehicle clearance checking

The vehicle clearance tool, also unique to AutoTrack, lets you check any vehicle for ground clearance and overhead impacts. Using only a single button click, the vertical vehicle clearance is ideal for low bridges, car park accesses, ramps, etc.
