Jewers Doors Completes Doors for Al Futtaim's Executive Jet Hangar at New Al Maktoum International Airport

Jewers Doors has supplied its world-renowned Esavian Type 126 doors for the new DC Aviation and Al-Futtaim joint venture executive jet hangar at Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International airport. The hangar, which can accommodate aircraft up to Boeing 757 size, has doors 62m wide and 13.5m high with a tailgate opening that increases the height to 16m.

They are predominantly clad with highly translucent and well-insulated polycarbonate panels and are fully powered operated. Jewers Doors designed, manufactured and installed the doors within an extremely tight construction program – matching the exceptional speed that the hangar was erected. The 8,000m² facility is the first executive jet hangar and fixed-base operation at Dubai World Central.

Esavian Director, Jonathan Jewers, says: "We are pleased to continue our long-standing business in the Middle East supplying doors for the very largest hangars as well as mid-size hangars to suit the ever expanding business jet market."

Jewers Doors will once again have a stand (number 154) at The Airport Show being held at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Center from 6th to 8th May. The show is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airlines and is the most important in the region. Jewers Doors has exhibited annually at the ever-improving exhibition since it started in 2001.

First supplied nearly 100 years ago, Esavian doors have been continually developed to maintain their world class performance. In addition to technical advances in safety and longevity, they are now the ‘greenest’ doors available, helping buildings achieve higher levels of certification with regards to the demanding Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) internationally recognized green building scheme.

Jewers Doors is a family and employee owned business with three brothers as directors – Chris Jewers (Managing Director), Mark Jewers (Phoenix Director) and Jonathan Jewers (Esavian Director). Started in 1983 by their father, Nigel Jewers, who stills maintains a keen interest in the engineering aspect of the business; the company now undertakes contracts throughout the world for royalty, governments, armed forces and private companies alike.
