In 2011 the passenger terminal of Vilnius International Airport in Lithuania was expanded and several reconstructions were done. RECYFIX HICAP drainage channels from HAURATON were used for the drainage.
The requirements for the drainage system were high: the channel had to drain the storm water and also offer a retention volume for extra security. Furthermore the system had to withstand the highest dynamic and static loadings (class F 900). The RECYFIX HICAP is a perfect system to cope with all of this demands. RECYFIX HICAP has a PE-PP channel body and some ductile iron gratings on top.
The operator decided to use HAURATON because of the unique characteristics of RECYFIX HICAP and the excellent technical support offered from designers, excellent delivery time and its experience in the handling of such big projects. Last not least the very positive experience with HAURATON on similar other projects was a decisive factor. In Lithuania another airport project was successfully handled for the NATO Airbase in Siauliai.
Vilnius International Airport in Lithuania is located south of the capital Vilnius and can be reached from the city centre within 15 minutes by car. The first civil flights were launched in 1944 and the old terminal was built in 1954.
The European Union funded parts of the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport investment.
