SIMCORE has elaborated a new method for evaluating performance of airport passenger terminals. The software has been specified jointly with ADPI in order to be accurate and easy to use in the terminal, even and especially during peak periods.
Through numerous international projects, such as PARIS CDG, Athens International Airport, Jeddah KAIA, Delhi International Airport T3, Mulhouse Euroairport, London Heathrow T2, SIMCORE has capitalised a great experience in baggage handling simulation, passenger terminal capacity planning and terminal operations optimisation.
One critical issue for any capacity planning and simulation study is to gather accurate and up-to-date flow data, resource throughputs per period of time and per terminal.
Else, airport operations managers need appropriate indicators to be able to focus their efforts at the right place, and better communicate with their services providers (airlines, security, police) in order to increase the quality of stay of passengers.
Thus SIMCORE designed a 'passenger terminal performance measurement' software to be used on a tablet PC or a PDA. One can be placed among 12 different functional areas in the terminal, and gather several kinds of measures:
- Resources numbering
- Passengers counting
- Passengers/bags timing
- Process timing
- Density mapping
Customer word:
"Experience has taught us that the basis for conducting successful passenger terminal development projects is the early analysis of key performance indicators, as well as the identification of the existing bottlenecks in processes inside the passenger terminal building.
SIMCORE passenger terminal measurement software provides us with accurate information, regarding these issues, to be used as an input for our facilities requirements and simulation studies," said Jean-Marc Defleur, head of strategic planning department, ADPI.
