  • Complete responsibility for project scope with interdisciplinary project teams
  • Extensive experience in cost-optimised solutions

AIRPORT AND HARBOUR PROJECT MANAGEMENT SERVICES

Pöyry Infra provides a full range of services to meet the requirements of today's modern airports. The areas in which we specialise include runways and aprons, passenger terminals, cargo and operations buildings, traffic planning and site infrastructure.

Our competencies include master planning, design, engineering, project management and site supervision services. Some of our clients have been associated with Zurich, Sharm el Sheik and Kuala Lumpur international airports.

FRANKFURT AIRPORT EXTENSION PROJECT

The extension comprised a new runway in the north-west area, taxiways and aprons, aircraft bridges to cross the new Cologne-Frankfurt railway line and the BAB A3 motorway, as well as passenger and baggage handling and sorting facilities, facilities for cargo handling and forwarding agents, maintenance facilities and road traffic systems.

The following services were provided in close cooperation with the design engineers responsible for utilities and disposal measures, road traffic systems and aviation areas:

  • Management of groundwater table and earthwork (earth mass balance)
  • Construction phase planning
  • Recycling and disposal process management
  • Determination and optimisation of traffic flow during the construction period
  • Determination and representation of central and decentralised construction site areas according to size, location and time of occupation

Pöyry Infra also provides consultancy and project management services to the rail and road transport industries.

RAIL SYSTEM MANAGEMENT

Pöyry Infra offers a range of services for all disciplines and project phases. From conceptual planning through all design stages, construction and implementation, to commissioning, maintenance and operation.

For each project we set up appropriately sized and configured teams to offer tailor-made solutions to the client.

Our experts have extensive experience and excellent know-how in alignment, tunnelling, stations and stops, depots and workshops, rolling stock, electromechanical equipment, communication systems and safety and health coordination. This knowledge is applied in many areas including high-speed and conventional railways, maintenance, upgrading and double tracking.

COLOGNE-FRANKFURT HIGH-SPEED RAILWAY

The link between Cologne and Frankfurt plays an important role in both the German and European rail network. It connects the conurbation of Cologne to that of the Rhine-Main area around Frankfurt.

In order to ensure minimum environmental impact, the alignment of the new double-track route follows the existing A3 motorway as closely as possible. Pöyry Infra's services included:

  • Contract management
  • Site and ecological supervision
  • Geological and hydrological documentation and supervision
  • Checking of land survey
  • Claims processing
  • Pre-construction condition surveys

ROAD PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

Pöyry Infra's spectrum of services includes feasibility studies, road design, site management, site supervision, traffic signage concepts, intersection design, supply systems, traffic reduction, noise prevention, safety and health coordination.

These services are used for highways and motorways, community and urban roads, telematics, privately financed road projects and infrastructure development.

BIRMENSDORF BYPASS (N20) PROJECT, SWITZERLAND

The Birmensdorf bypass is part of the western ring road around Zurich. This 5.4 km section of the N20 connects the existing freeway at Urdorf with the Zurich-West interchange at Wettswil. It includes three twin-tube tunnels with a total length of approximately 4km. Each tube contains two traffic lanes and a shoulder. Pöyry Infra's services included:

  • Conceptual design and environmental impact studies
  • Basic, detailed and construction designs during the public approval phase
  • Tender documentation, appraisal and evaluation for portal cuts, tunnels and control centres
  • Above-ground and underground survey and monitoring of deformation and settlement and profile control
  • Design and installation supervision of electromechanical equipment
