Billing system for data, voice, utilities, car parking and media

The Jet Billing System is an extensible and flexible billing system that provides billing, rating and user management for data, voice, utilities, car parking, media and more.

The system was originally designed as an ISP wholesale and retail billing system, and has grown to become much more over the past 11 years. Jet is widely used internationally by airports, shopping centres, internet service providers, universities, utilities service providers and more.

Jet's flexible billing and rating engine allows the system to be installed to bill and manage resources from multiple sources. Billing both post-paid and pre-paid plans, Jet allows airports to provide a single source of billing to their retailers for all their utilities, voice and data services, as well as hotspot WiFi and car parking for transit users.

As the creators of Jet, Obsidian also offers customisation and development of jet to ensure the system fully meets each client's unique requirements.

Voice billing platform

Melbourne Airport has launched Jet for voice billing across its retail and corporate network. With integration with Cisco's CUCM, the voice billing platform is providing the airport with billing and rating for all its voice traffic.

Phase two of the Melbourne Airport project will bring in data billing for public Wi-Fi along with the airport's retailers and corporate data connections. By the end of the project the airport will have a truly convergent billing system.

Customer care portal

Jet provides a sophisticated online customer care portal for administrators, help desk and users to utilise for account management, system management and end user account information. The workflow manager allows the system to be used for online sign-up as well as allowing existing users, such as airport retailers to manage their services, plans and payments.

Captive portal for data and advertising

Jet can be used as a WiFi hotspot system, providing a captive portal requiring users to login or pay credit card or direct deposit for internet usage. Jet's captive portal, customer care portal and invoices all provide advertising space.

Billing system for price books and plan structures

Jet's advanced billing and rating provides unparalleled flexibility for creating price books and plan structures.
Jet presents invoices and receipts as PDF files. In standard usage, invoices are automatically emailed to customers as they are created, permitting completely automated and hands-off billing. Automatic delivery of invoices may be switched off if desired.

Customisable PDF invoices

PDF invoices can be modified in certain pre-defined ways via the web-based interface to reflect the organisational style. More complex invoices, including graphical representation of data and advertising materials can also be provided by Obsidian.

Integration and authentication

Jet comes with a built-in RADIUS server, as well as integrating with external sources, including external RADIUS servers, proxy devices, network devices including routers and deep packet inspectors such as Bluecoat, Exinda, PacketLogic, Cisco and others, and provides authentication from LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory, Novell and more.

Redundancy module for second server support

The redundancy module enables support for a second server running as a hot standby. Automated failover to the secondary server is triggered in the event of a failure on the primary server.

Load balancing across multiple servers and source code

Jet's modular architecture allows for load balancing across multiple servers, with the ability to move different elements of the system onto different servers to enable billing and rating for clients with millions of users.

Jet sells with source code included. Written in Python with a MySQL database, Obsidian also offers training for customers who wish to manage their own systems.
