Norwegian Air Shuttle AS, a Norwegian airline company operating a total of 82 routes nationally and internationally, and 33 million passengers per year, requested an internal communication solution for all their personnel.

The solution should integrate the existing TETRA network at Gardermoen Oslo Airport (OSL), a VHF AM flight channel and the customers Head Office at Fornebu, to enable all staff to communicate on one network.

Based on these requirements, Zenitel developed a complete solution by combining two STENTOFON AlphaCom E's with a TETRA PMR and VHF AM Air radio solution.

One AlphaCom E has been placed at Gardermoen, this unit included the interfaces to the external radio systems and the setup for the cross communication group including dual display intercoms, a TETRA TalkGroup and a flight radio channel. The other AlphaCom E has been placed at the head office and is connected to Gardermoen via the customer's data network.

This is one of the first systems of its kind and an innovative project that benefits from the combined expertise that Zenitel possesses in this area. The system assures complex communication and the quickest reaction possible in all instances when critical situations occur.

The entire system that was delivered consists of two AlphaCom E entities, four dual-display intercoms, one radio interface to OSL Tetra network and one radio interface to Norwegians VHF AM flight channel.
