Telindus Announce the Integration of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)

11 June 2004

Cambridge – May 2004 - Telindus-owned CellStack Systems Ltd, leading providers of networked CCTV surveillance solutions to the transportation market are pleased to announce the addition of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) to its solution. The Talon ANPR system, produced by Appian, provides rapid and accurate identification of vehicles, 24h a day, in all weather conditions.

The ANPR product identifies and recognises number plate information with scope for integration into databases of number plates. ANPR has now been integrated with the CellStack Vision software – part of the CellStack Integration Suite. The digital quality video data is then fed from Vision into the Appian Talon ANPR product. Commercial applications for this technology include car park management, estate management and journey time analysis. In all applications each recognised vehicle has a time/date and location number associated with it together with an associated image. The networking capability of the system allows comprehensive database of traffic movement to be created and maintained.

Telindus Surveillance Solutions Director, Dr Ken Sutherland said: “Telindus have a great deal of experience in Video Surveillance and Appian are highly experienced in ANPR. This is an ideal partner ship for us and our customers. This integration demonstrates our Image Processing API designed to allow third parties to gain access to our high quality video for their own image processing applications.”

Appian Technology’s Chairman, Patrick Ryan said: “We are very pleased to be working with Telindus to provide effective surveillance solutions with the integration of our world leading TALON Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system with Cellstack’s Vision product.”
