A testament to its effectiveness, Zafire Aviation Software, a provider of baggage management systems, has recently received a five-year contract renewal with international airlines operating to and from Australia. Revolutionising the way airline passengers check in and collect their baggage, the software promises to help improve the security, reliability and accuracy of airline baggage handling, saving airlines money and enhancing their customer service.
Zafire’s programme was initiated in Australia in 2009 through the Board of Airline Representatives (BARA), an industry representative organisation for airlines. The renewed contract will ensure that the baggage reconciliation system will continue to operate for 44 international airlines operating from the eight Australian international airports at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns, Perth, Adelaide, Darwin and the Gold Coast. So far the strategy has greatly reduced the amount of misconnected luggage and is estimated to maintain and exceed these improvements going forward.
