From a consumer's point of view a successful baggage handling system will move checked luggage from point-to-point within the same period of time as a traveler in transit. This means that the system will be able to move bags to-and-from airplanes, and drop-off and pick-up points, so that traveler and luggage basically stay together.

Sumitomo's Hyponic® Drives are very well suited for all baggage-handling conveyor applications. If properly selected, Sumitomo Drive Technologies expects their Hyponic Gearmotor Series units to perform problem-free and virtually maintenance-free in this application and truly provide customers with long-term success and flexibility. The Hyponic is not the only solution but we truly believe based on strict testing and data, that it's the best solution.

Sumitomo Drive Technologies offers standard drives as well as custom engineered drive solutions for all types of elevator, escalator and moving walkway applications.  Our gear drives are highly efficient and extremely quiet.  

Hyponic® Drives and Cyclo Drives are selected for these types of applications.  The Hyponic Drive, when Right Angle is required, due to the high efficiency of the hypoid gear design (significantly outperforms worm gearing across ratios 30:1 to 1440:1) with cost savings generated throughout the lifespan of the application.  The Cyclo is selected when in line configuration is preferred. Both of these gear drives are extremely quiet, with compact design features and smooth operation and are ideal for people-moving applications.
