Airport baggage and cargo handling, sorting and screening specialist Glidepath has made a number of senior appointments to support its growth strategy as it expands its business presence in Australia, North and South America, China, India, South Africa and the Middle East.

Chairman and managing director Ken Stevens said: "We have a stream of new airport work to upgrade, design and install integrated airport baggage and cargo systems at regional and international airports across the world, as well as new opportunities in the pipeline. We are pushing ahead with internationalising the business and have restructured and enhanced our resource capabilities with some key appointments."

While Mr Stevens will continue as managing director, John Fitzgerald, who has more than 12 years' experience at senior level in developing and designing sophisticated baggage handling systems, has been promoted to general manager of New Zealand to oversee all aspects of Glidepath's operations, including design, engineering, manufacturing, software development and sales and marketing.

Sydney-based Australian regional sales manager Rob Harvey has been named general manager of Australia and Asia to spearhead business growth opportunities across the region and Tim Kotlar, who has more than 30 years' experience internationally in manufacturing, project management and sales and marketing, is the company's new international business development manager.

Mr Stevens, who is also chairman of export for New Zealand, said: "We are in good health and very positive about our ability to win new business and secure a niche in our target markets, even in these trying economic times.

"Our aim is to continually build on our ability to deliver customised, quality-assured solutions on budget and on time and provide superior service and relationship management by being close to the customer. We have a very good team with the breadth and depth of skills and experience to extend our competitive advantage and reach."

The privately owned company has completed more than 500 airport baggage handling systems in 61 countries and provides end-to-end solutions from initial feasibility studies to design, manufacture, installation, operations, maintenance and high-level software solutions. It also provides integrated turnkey project management for airport clients.
