FAB - Cargo and ULD-Handling Conveyors, Decks and Docks

In order to be competitive, airport cargo-handling systems have to save more than they cost or create higher value. FAB's cargo-handling systems are easy to use, ideal for transporting ULDs, containers and pallets, and increase successful results whilst cutting costs.

FAB has more than 30 years' experience in planning, establishing and implementing logistic systems. Most of our customers are mid-sized companies requiring customised cargo-handling systems, and we rise to that challenge.

FAB's specific mixture of experience and know-how results in the optimum solution for technically and economically difficult logistic challenges.

Air-cargo handling conveyors

The standard FAB ULD air-cargo handling conveyor is of a solid steel-welded construction, and can have pneumatic lifting and lowering roller rails (strips), depending on its application. It possesses PDUs for longitudinal travel. In an emergency, the containers or pallets can also be pushed manually, and the reinforced version is drivable by a forklift truck.

This air-cargo handling conveyor is used to transport and control ULDs, containers and pallets. The standard FAB ULD air-cargo handling conveyor's performance data is as follows:

  • Width: 2,700mm for longitudinal travel; 3,600mm for transverse travel
  • Length: as required
  • Load carrier: ULDs, containers and pallets

Bi-directional movement air-cargo handling deck

FAB's 10ft and 7,000kg payload X-Y bi-directional movement air-cargo handling deck provides 90° transport direction change and stowage space. Features include:

  • Solid steel construction with protective sheet metal throughout
  • Ball rollers
  • PDUs for longitudinal and transverse travel

In an emergency, the containers or pallets can be pushed manually, and the reinforced (20ft with 12,000kg payload) version is drivable with a forklift.

ULD loading and unloading truck dock

FAB's truck-dock for loading and unloading ULDs features:

  • Hydraulically driven scissors lift
  • Lifting platform in solid steel construction with ball rollers and PDUs for longitudinal and transverse process; alternatively with pneumatic lifting roller strips and PDUs as well as lateral shifting
  • Solid fender with transition rollers
  • Firmly attached longitudinal guide
  • Two front and rear manual stops

FAB's truck-dock, which is 10ft with a 7,000kg payload, can assist where height compensation is needed between a lorry and stationary materials-handling technology, for loading and unloading from a lorry with containers or pallets, or for transfer of containers.

Special features include a winch for withdrawal of containers or pallets from the lorry, lateral shifting of the containers or pallets on the lifting platform with PDUs, an integral scale, and an ability (on the reinforced 20ft with 12,000kg payload version) to be driven by a forklift truck.

Empty ULD storage system

FAB's container storage systems can be configured to suit different ground plans and sizes, with different numbers of storage levels, according to customers' requirements. Both manually operated or automated storage lanes are available.

Advantages include:

  • Orderly airport environment and efficient retrieval of containers via centralised storage
  • Efficient use of limited or expensive airport space
  • No danger from unsecured or stacked containers in windy conditions
  • Eliminates fork-lift damage through exclusive use of dollies and racks
