Inter-Terminal Baggage Operations Contract at Heathrow Airport

We are pleased to confirm that BAA plc have agreed a ten year contract with ALSTEC for the provision of Inter-Terminal Baggage Transfer Operations (ITO) at Heathrow Airport.
As the world's busiest international airport, Heathrow depends upon a fast, reliable transfer service for passengers and bags making connecting flights and ALSTEC are pleased to be providing the baggage transfer service between Heathrow's four terminals, transferring six million bags per annum. We will be extending the service to support Terminal 5 with its introduction in 2008.
The ITO service consists of a fleet of transport vehicles, personnel and our expertise in optimising processes to minimise transfer times, and maximising performance for the transfer of baggage around the airport. ALSTEC currently provides operations and maintenance services across Heathrow for departures and arrivals baggage handling systems, and this contract extends our involvement in the end-to-end baggage handling process at the Airport.
