UFIS Airport Innovation AS is proud to announce the capture of another BRAINS® contract - this time with Rygge Airport in Norway. Using its routing and sorting module, BRAINS (Baggage Routing and Information System) is expected to give the airport higher efficiency and decrease the work effort needed for planning and usage of the baggage handling system.
BRAINS is UFIS Airport Innovation's trademarked total software concept for baggage handling systems, covering the range from low-level to high-level controls. BRAINS increases the traceability and reliability of the baggage handling system for the customer and provides a powerful tool for the user in his or her daily work.
BRAINS is already in use in several airports in Scandinavia including OSL Gardermoen, Bergen Flesland, Helsinki Vantaa, and Gothenbourg.
"Rygge Airport is expected to help handle the traffic growth being experienced in the southern region of Norway", said Idar Sørgjerd, managing director of UFIS Airport Innovation. "We appreciate the opportunity we've been given to help Rygge meet this challenge."
UFIS AI will deliver its BRAINS computer and software before the opening of the airport, scheduled for October 2007. The system is being delivered in cooperation with Vanderlande Industries, the main contractor for this project.
"UFIS Airport Innovation has a special place as part of the UFIS Airport Solutions Corporation with its software concept for baggage handling systems, thus broadening our integrated airport solutions portfolio", said Anders Sagadin, UFIS Airport Solutions' President and CEO. "The fact that we have won another customer in this area shows that our products and services are meeting the needs of the airports and that the UFIS Group is a reliable business partner in all product areas we offer."
