Airport Innovation, located in Oslo, Norway and Barcelona, Spain, has delivered high and low-level control systems to airports for more than a decade. The company provides fully integrated solutions for automated baggage handling, including radio frequency identification (RFID) and hold baggage screening (HBS). Airport Innovation is part of the UFIS Airport Solutions holding company.

Using the latest tools, Airport Innovation provides the screening, storage, transport and sorting systems required to ensure the safe, timely arrival of passenger luggage to the right terminal or aircraft.

We are connected to various different suppliers and can deliver control systems from all of them (such as Siemens, Moeller, Mitsubishi and Omron). We can operate as both the main contractor and the sub-supplier, and have close contact with various mechanical companies that deliver different mechanical solutions

Technical solutions in international airports

Airport Innovation was established to answer the need for technical solutions in airports in Norway, and was among the participants during the construction and establishment of Oslo International Airport, Gardermoen in Norway.

Increased demand for the same technology solutions in other geographical parts has brought Airport Innovation’s system to a number of other airports in Europe, where we provide baggage-handling systems for large and small airports.

At Oslo International Airport, Gardermoen, Oslo, Norway Airport Innovation installed:

  • BRAINS high-level control, BRAINS automatic departure planner and BRAINS automatic arrival planner
  • Low-level controls and SCADA system
  • New bypass lines and a new level three area, a total of 240 new motors and connection to two new x-rays
  • Electrical construction and wiring

At Helsinki Vantaa Airport, Helsinki, Finland, Airport Innovation installed:

  • BRAINS high-level control in terminals one, two, three and four, and the BRAINS automatic departure planner in all terminals
  • Low-level controls and SCADA system
  • Electrical construction and wiring

At Barcelona Airport Terminal 1, Spain, Airport Innovation installed:

  • BRAINS high-level control
  • Complete network for the baggage handling system
  • Control room design
