Avisure - Systems to Identify and Reduce Bird Strikes

Avisure is an industry leader in bird strike risk management. Our extensive experience, knowledge and understanding of wildlife behaviour and aircraft operations has taken the Avisure team to more than fifty national, international and military airports since 1997.

The following services allow us to help our clients reduce their bird strike risk:

Bird management programme audits

Avisure systematically and objectively audits airports against national regulations and international standards. Our audits identify resource and management gaps, monitor success of management programmes, identify irregularities in your risks, help determine targeted management, streamline your resources for targeted and effective management as well as ensure regulatory and legislative compliance.

Entry and exit meetings guarantee clarity in our approach and open discussion on audit findings. Our audit reports are delivered within two weeks of the onsite visit and details appropriate short, medium and long-term recommendations to better manage the bird strike risk.

Risk assessment for strike probability and consequence

Our approach to assessing bird strike risks focuses on applying industry-endorsed risk assessment models (Allan 2006, Shaw 2004).These models use information derived from strike records and survey data to determine strike probability and consequence.

Categorising species based on real data as high, moderate or low risk identifies target species, focuses management and resource allocation, reduces risk and saves money. The process provides a transparent, logical and systematic approach to wildlife risk management.

Management plans to minimise bird strike

Avisure has compiled customised bird hazard management plans for airports of all sizes. Our plans are based on real data and risk assessments. They focus on the practical elements of bird strike management and establish goals and key performance indicators to monitor programme progress. An Avisure plan ensures regulatory compliance and will minimise the bird strike risk

Various tools for wildlife dispersal and management

Avisure offers experienced airside bird controllers, which includes the use of dogs at airports. Avisure bird controllers hold cat A, B and H weapons licences, CASA ASIC, aviation radio operators' proficiency certificates and Australian aerodrome reporting officer certificates. Our dispersal programmes incorporate the use of various tools, including canine, pyrotechnics, live shot, distress caller, siren, lights, stockwhip and other noise-generating devices.

Management training and workshops for cutting-edge solutions

Years of experience and research has contributed to the development of a training programme specifically for personnel involved in bird and wildlife strike management. From airport operators and safety regulators to airline staff, Avisure training workshops provide cutting-edge solutions, which are essential for effective bird and wildlife control.

During the training programme, Avisure experts will introduce several units, discuss each at length, provide tangible examples and equip personnel with knowledge about the increasing importance of bird and wildlife controls, and implementation of an ongoing management plan. Our training programmes are flexible in delivery; we can come to you or you can come to us.

We focus on working closely with our clients to ensure realistic, achievable and affordable outcomes.
